A police-manned tourist information center opened its doors in central Athens this week, providing visitors assistance and aiming to deal with potential problems that may arise during their stay in the Greek capital.

Connected online with central Hellenic Police (ELAS) headquarters and manned by foreign language-speaking staff, the center provides tourists with information and assistance on a daily basis.

Travelers can file complaints or charges and officers can issue certificates directly for lost travel documents. In the meantime, visitors can find brochures with relevant safety and guidance information at Athens hotels.

The initiative comes after an agreement signed between the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH) and the Secretary General for Public Order in July.

The office, located on Klafthmonos Square (4 Dragatsianou St) in central Athens, is open daily between 7.30am and 10pm, tel 210-322-2230.
