New acquisition by Golden Star Ferries

Greek ferry operator Golden Star Ferries has announced the acquisition of the Speedrunner IV from Aegean Speed Lines.

Golden Star Ferries Adds Speedrunner IV to its fleet

According to the company’ s announcement, the vessel will be renamed to Superunner. After its annual inspection, will begin operating routes to the Cyclades islands as of next April.

The Superunner’ s length is 100.5 m, its width 17.12m and its draft 4.45 m. The vessel will have a carrying capacity of 810 passengers and 160 vehicles. Its cruising speed will reach 34 knots.

“With the purchase of this ship, the company establishes its position in the Greek passenger ferry market and aims to expand its presence in new destinations”, Golden Star Ferries officials said.

In July 2016, the company also added the new Superferry to its fleet. The Superferry operates routes from the Athens port of Rafina to the Greek Islands of Andros, Tinos, Mykonos and Naxos.
